Little Dog Party

Lola Pug and I have been pretty quiet for the past few weeks. Spring is trying it’s best to …spring… this year… Oh, that’s not true. It’s not trying at all. Life has been pretty grey and cool and wet around Casa Lola. Very uninspiring and kinda depressing, to be honest.

In my continually vain attempt to keep HRH amused, I thought she might enjoy a visit to see her Griffy friends (aka The Fuppies). Well, it turned out that The Fuppies were already having a casual party, of sorts, so the more the merrier!

Well. I guess that depends on what your idea of “merry” is.

Little Murphy – always in love with Lola Pug, even though the feelings have never been even remotely returned – sat watching the craziness with her pug friend for a while.

Everyone was having a whale of a time on the other sofa. So much so, that the humans decided it would be great to get all of the canines present together for a photo.

Let me introduce you to The Little Dog Gang… Leo, the Shih Tzu, Barkley, the Cutiepie, you know Murphy and Bosco, the Brussels Griffons, of course, and who is that in between the Griffies there? You see her – the really happy looking one…

I would like to think that Lola Pug simply loves to look at the camera, but I’m pretty sure that’s not quite what was happening here.

In fact, I think I might be making up for this transgression for quite some time to come.

Lola Pug. At a party. For DOGS!?!

Better go and read my Pug Parent Manual again.

In the meantime – COME ON, SPRING! I mean – really. If I don’t get some good adventures lined up for HRH, I’m going to be in some SERIOUS trouble pretty soon!

Until next week!

The Pug Posse

So – where were we again? Oh, yes. Pugs!

As I was saying, hanging out with the Pug Posse is a treat for Lola Pug, but it was a special treat for me this time around, because there has been a new addition to the group…

…Josephine!

Now you might not be able to see it when she’s in a solo photo, looking all epic and all, but Jo is what I refer to as my Achilles heel … my Kryptonite. She is a wee black pug puppy.

Perhaps sitting against her foster-sister, Truly, will help her seduce you into her tiny, saucy world….

Now who, you might ask, is Truly? This gorgeous girl is yet another poster child for why potential families should never shy away from dogs with “disabilities”.

Just as with Truly’s other foster-sister, Hazel, you would never really know that she had vision problems. She is just as sassy, playful and as loving as any other pug (more so, in Truly’s case, in fact), and BOY can she be a cheeseball. She *is* a pug, after all.

Rounding out the Pug Posse is the grand gentleman of pugs. Tank. Known in the rescue world as a “foster failure”, Tank managed to charm and wiggle his way into his foster family’s hearts until the thought of life without him became unfathomable. He has presided with great style (and patience), over the Pug Posse ever since his formal adoption almost five years ago.

And no visit is complete without some time with Miss Hazel. After running around like a complete maniac with the other pugs, she needed to recharge her solar panels, and so chose the *hottest* sunbeam in the garden to go and bathe in.

Keeping it classy, Hazel Bean.

So where was Lola Pug in all of this pugginess?

Well. Sitting in the grass, trying to convince me that she had no reason to be communing with these four-legged, hairy creatures, and whyohwhyohwhy couldn’t we just go home where she could be dignified and regal in peace?

Seriously, pug. That look you’re shooting me is just convincing me we need to do this more often.

And speaking of looks … I’d keep your eye on that little one. She’s got your attitude written all over her.

Bradie’s Eyeball Update

Thank you, everyone, for your good juju and wishes for Lola’s little friend, Bradie.

She pulled through her eye surgery with flying colours, despite a rocky and scary lead-up, and I am happy to report that the little diva is back, and she’s badder than ever, man.

She is SO active now, that when I went over for an impromptu visit (armed only with my aging cell phone as a camera) I couldn’t get even a half-decent photo of her!

…so we went outside to the private terrace, and B’s mum held her up. She actually did stop wriggling for a second.

Not bad at ALL, girlie!

As Bradie was already blind, the removal of one of her eyes was more of a relief than a change for her, so aside from the side effects of the post-surgery medication, she is now mostly pain-free and more delightful (and demanding) than ever.

And not to be forgotten in all of this is little brother, Frankie, who lay by his sister’s side while she recovered, and who needs a little bit of extra loving to make up for all of the attention that the patient is getting.

Ah, the power of love. Yorkie style!
