The Easter Puggie

IT’S HOLIDAY TIME!

And at Casa Lola, there’s only ONE thing to do on a holiday…

I love how into the spirit of things she gets.

But never fear, Pug, there’s *always* something in it for you, too.

Lola and I stick to the fun bits of most holidays, and for me, Easter is all about bunnies and chicks and chocolate and egg hunts and the promise of spring. So what’s not to love?

But back to the egg hunts.

The chocolate is for me, not for LP, so this morning, I thought someone would enjoy getting her breakfast in a slightly more fun way.

Eggs filled with kibble were hidden at pug eye level…

…and I set the pug bunny loose to see if she could sniff out her treats.

Lola Pug not only found the eggs, but she also very quickly figured out that stomping on them made them crack open and spill forth their breakfasty goodness.

Eight Easter eggs later…

Not only was breakfast served, but we had a total riot running around Casa Lola looking for eggs, hunting for spilled kibble and knocking all sorts of things over.

So perhaps the dressing up part isn’t so bad when you consider all of the fun that comes with it.

Happy Easter, Happy Passover and happy hunting to all of our friends today!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I remember receiving my first Mother’s Day flowers the year that Lola Pug was born. Mother’s Day arrived that year when The Pug was still with her pug mama, too young to be with me in her forever home, but that didn’t make the day any less special for me.

The thought of this little face, and thinking back to everything we’ve been through together over the past nine years makes every Mother’s Day special for me, even when they’ve been really tough to celebrate.

Here’s to as many more happy adventures and bright and sunny Mother’s Days as the Fates will allow us, baby girl….

And to all the loving Mums out there who have kids of all kinds, Happy Mother’s Day!

Long Weekend, Pug Style

If The Pug had her druthers, we would be sleeping in (after our 5:00am breakfast call, of course) until about noon every day.

Fortunately, on a long weekend, I am able to entertain these preferences, and we do tend to turn into sloths when the opportunity presents itself.

Behold…The Coze….

If the pugs ever do want to take over the world (as I suspect they are planning to do), all they’ll have to do is fall asleep on the humans. Their soft snoring and warm, fuzzy bodies render everyone but the most hardened and heartless people inert, immobile and so dreamily sleepy.

For all of our friends in Ontario today, Happy Family Day! And…would someone mind bringing me some tea? I’m rather cozy here, and I can’t seem to move my legs to get out of bed….

Weekend Training

Oh, Hai, Nelly!

We are overjoyed to have Nells with us for the upcoming Canada Day weekend, and we’ve been in serious training mode for all of the relaxing ever since she arrived at our door.

Relaxing takes much training and vigilance, you know…

One of the joys of having Nells with us is her absolute inability to be serious for very long. Whereas Lola Pug is quite serious quite a lot of the time, Nelly is a full-on happy as a clam cheeseball…

Hey, Nells. Your mouth is open so wide, I can see down to your tail.

Although Lola still maintains the Place of Honour on my lap, her sister does not in any way miss out on the fun, and she has her own special spot when we all sit down together.

Little weirdo.

Oh, the adventures that await us, girls.

Happy Friday, everyone!
