Florida Pug

So have you had time to take a guess at what Lola Pug got up to on her exciting trip to the land of palm trees and manatees?

When we last left her, HRH was rather happily soaking up some much needed vitamin D…

…but it wasn’t ALL about sunshine and relaxing.

Lola Pug was active and sprightly…

…she moved around the pool like a sunflower capturing the optimal sunshine angles…

…she went for exciting walks that involved a lot of exercise…

…she entertained friends and listened to what were clearly some thrilling discussions…

All in all, I think I had a very happy pug on my hands.

But even the best of things must come to an end. I broke the news to Lola Pug gently, just as her Auntie was giving her a post-yogurt skritch…

It’s time to go home, sweetie.

Our visit was short, but it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries and feel a bit of warmth on our skin before returning to the long winter ahead.

Bye bye, beautiful ocean and beaches and sunshine…

…and hello winter.

You might be cold and frosty, dear city, but it warms my heart to see you again.

I might be the only one who feels that way, though.

So I guess I had better get my thinking cap on and line up some new adventures before someone cries mutiny, and teaches herself how to book her own flights.

Wishing everyone in the North American snowbelt many warm, palm tree dreams this frosty weekend!

Now, little pug. What are we going to get up to next….

Travelling Pug

Lola Pug and I are active and happy travellers, but we’ve been grounded for a while due to a few LP-related medical questions we’ve been looking to answer.

So it was a great celebration when Lola Pug’s veterinarian, Dr. Deji, gave her the okay to FINALLY fly again. To mark the occasion, Dr. Liver Hands gave LP a well deserved treat.

…and I immediately logged into my computer to book our first flight in months.

Lola Pug has seen way too many Valentino documentaries, so her idea of a flight that is appropriate to her status is something like this…

…but her reality is somewhat less glamorous….

The Pug has always been a great traveller, and this was a short flight, so it wasn’t long before we were peeing on foreign foliage, and leaving little calling cards for friends we hadn’t yet met.

And where have we ended up, you might ask?

Well. Somewhere with PUGS, of course!

Well, HELLO, Donald! We’re happy to see you, too!

Donald’s family (Angel Payton’s people) and I have been friends for ages, but this was our first time meeting Donald and his amazing sister, Daisy in person.  D&D were adopted from PugHearts of Houston a couple of years ago, and they quickly wormed their way into my heart through photos and videos. I also had a sneaking suspicion that Daisy and Lola Pug were soul sisters (but more on that later).

Daisy and Donald welcomed us into their Pugmobile and we were whisked away for a very exciting first day in their forever hometown.

Houston?

Nope.

Think…windier.

We boarded a (PUG FRIENDLY!) boat, and Lola Pug settled in for a fun and educational tour of our home for the next few days.

Not bad, eh?

IMG_0901

…real life Gotham, anyone?

IMG_0292

Now, Donald had been on this particular tour before, so the gorgeous scenery didn’t impress him so much.

IMG_0935

…maybe he’s a bit nearsighted…

IMG_0925_2

…because even the Little Princess was impressed.

But the tour eventually came to an end, and we traded history and waterways…

IMG_0939_2

…for…history and carnivals….

IMG_0299_2

Hey, pugs! You up for a day on the town?

IMG_0962_2

I’ll call that as an affirmative vote, so let’s gather up our city trekking gear, and we’ll see you all in the next blog post!

I Do Not Need a Tray….

“Airport” and “Airplane” are magic words for the Pug. They make her very happy and excited, which leads me to believe that she really likes traveling, and all that goes along with it.

Well. Maybe not *everything* that goes along with it.

Small black pug sits, bored, in an airport security screning tray, waiting to be picked up by her mum.

I guess it’s not just people who are fed up with the security theatre of air travel.

Back in the Bag

The Pug and I do a lot of traveling. I wish that the airlines had a frequent flyer program for pets, but I’m told by some that I should simply be happy that I can bring her on-board.

Yah. Well. I have my opinions about that.

The WestJet folks always treat the Princess like gold, and she rather *loves* going to the airport. I’m not sure how she feels about being stuck in “The Bag” for a few hours, but she seems to be no worse for wear when we arrive at our destination. …as long as we get a LONG walk in after we land.

So this is what I usually see for the duration of my flight:

Heh.

Little monster.
