A Little Bit About Lola

Lola Pug came into the world on March 20, 2005 – the smallest, fiercest and only girl in a litter of three. As a 3-pound spitfire, she went from chasing her Rottie cousins around the house to bossing her new humans around, and her plot for global domination has continued since.

Lola is known in neighbourhoods across North America, thanks to her globetrotting ways. She can often be found flying over jumps in agility class, basking in pools of sunshine, expressing disgust at the ways of mere “dogs”, or curled up on a favourite lap.

Although she is a “well bred” pug, she tolerates her people’s involvement in rescue transports and pug rescue events. She loves her bonies, her trout stuffy and her many comfy beds, but as long as she’s with her Mama, she’s a happy girl.

Hi, I read one of your post where you talk about an airplane trip with Lola. I have a pug too, but she is not with me. I cant measure her precisely, but what was the bag you bought for her? Was she a puppy when you travelled?
    Thank you

    • Iago – Lola’s mama here. I wrote a little piece on airplane travel on the Montreal Dog Blog (link here: http://www.montrealdogblog.com/8895/pugs-fly/ ) that will give you a few more details about travelling with dogs.

Although many people do, I, personally, do not recommend putting your dog in the hold of the plane – especially a stuffy faced dog, like a pug. I would only ever fly with a dog in the cabin with me, and only then if their vet has approved the trip. Too much can – and does – go wrong, and canine lives are lost (to panic, baggage handler mistreatment, illness, temperature, oxygen loss, stress…) rather more than is let on.

What matters with the bag is to get one that they are comfortable in, and that is airline-approved. It took weeks of very patient training to help Lola become comfortable in her bag, but it paid off – she LOVES getting into her bag now.

      Good luck, and happy travels.

Hello! Just a message to say I have nominated you for a Liebster award! You can read about it here:

Feel free to ignore this if you want to, you are under no pressure at all to answer the questions etc. 😀

    • Thank you so much for the award! We’re super honoured, even though my mama’s slooooow acknowledgement time doesn’t show it. She’ll catch up soon, I promise. And thank you!

  10. Lola,
I LOVE pugs and have posted about my pug obsession. Check put my blog when you can so you can learn about my 4 legged children. I can’t wait to read your stories to my babies.
